OK I know this one got really bad score at rotten tomatoes but I can't resist the truth that I really enjoyed every minute I watched Chasing Liberty. Other fact, this is the movie that made me head over heels for rom-com genre.
It centers on Anna Foster, a daughter of US president who has sad and hopeless love life because of trapped in security bubble. She can't get the Secret Service off her back when she goes on dates with boys.
When she accompanies his parents to a state visit in Prague, she tries to catch a little "freedom" by asking going out with friend without too much Secret Service intervention.
Then she meets a handsome British boy, Ben Calder (Matthew Goode) there, with whom she embarks on a romantic journey across Europe Berlin, Venice, London and other popular tourist destinations.
Ben is a saturnine Brit of about 30, very dry and mysterious, and Anna knows absolutely nothing about him. Yup, he's a Secret Service agent as well.
Complications arise when the two of them find themselves further and further away from Prague, which increases the security risk for each of them. Also, it's apparent that Anna and Ben are developing feelings.
Chasing Liberty is a fairly standard-issue teen romantic comedy, ngl. But somehow, I think this simple and very predictable plot are really works to be a watchable rom-com.
Mandy moore and Matthew Goode chemistry are good, cute couple that looks perfect together.
To be frank, I can't handle myself to imagine being the main character.
I mean, who doesn't want to be Anna Foster, a privilege rich-pretty-girl and has a dashing Secret Service agent that loves her? A girl who can travel around beautiful places with a guy like Matthew Goode? Oh please, by all means, count me in!
